Forte Statement on Councilman Powers Announcement
Some of you may have seen the news that Councilman Michael Powers will not be seeking reelection in Lawrence in 2023.
I want to take the opportunity to thank him publically for his many years of service.
I am committed, more than ever, to make sure that we continue to move Lawrence forward. I ask for your support.
As inflation continues to beset our country, job creation has never been more important. Though the Lawrence Council has limited ability to impact the broader New Jersey economy, council members must lead the town with economic improvement in mind. As a council member, I will strive every day to help our town’s economy grow so that new jobs can be created.
New Jersey isn’t a cheap state to live in, but it’s imperative that the state – and Lawrence itself – don’t become havens for only the wealthy. Additionally, corporations and other institutions are rapidly buying property in Lawrence Township. If we want our future generations to be able to afford to live in Lawrence, we must take action. I will use all economic levers possible while on the Lawrence Council to keep our community affordable.
