Freedom Skate Park Partners with HomeFront to Give Away 30 Boards to At-Risk Youth in the Trenton Area

On Saturday, November 23, Freedom Skate Park will welcome a group of approximately 30 Trenton-area youth participating in HomeFront programs to their public, indoor skate park in the Roebling Wire Works building (675 S. Clinton Avenue, Trenton NJ) for the first of four “Grom-A-Rama” Board Giveaway events they will host this winter as part of the organization’s Trenton Winter Skateboarding Program, run in partnership with the City of Trenton. Youth participating in the event will learn the basics of skating and receive a skateboard of their own to take home.

What: Building on a successful pilot program last winter, Freedom Skate Park is partnering with the City of Trenton Department of Recreation, Culture, and Natural Resources to provide the only skate park in Trenton and the only indoor skate park in the state of New Jersey.

Saturday’s Grom-A-Rama event will give approximately 30 at-risk youth in HomeFront programs the opportunity to learn the basics of skateboarding. At the beginning of the event, youth will be separated into small groups and paired with volunteer skate coaches who will walk them through the basics of skating. After a break for a healthy snack, the youth will then engage in supervised free skate. At the end of the event, every child will take home their own skateboard to practice at home and share skating with their friends.

When: 12:00 PM on Saturday November 23, 2019.

Where: Roebling Wire Works Building (675 S. Clinton Avenue, Trenton NJ)
