Garden State Equality Applauds Governor Murphy’s Nominee, Rachel Wainer Apter, for the New Jersey Supreme Court

“Garden State Equality is pleased that Governor Murphy has chosen Rachel Wainer Apter, who has been a staunch defender of the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, to serve on the New Jersey Supreme Court,” said Garden State Equality Executive Director, Christian Fuscarino. “From her time at the ACLU when she litigated to defend the rights of same-sex couples to the public awareness campaign she launched at the Division of Civil Rights to ensure LGBTQ+ individuals know their rights, Rachel has used her considerable legal talents to ensure that LGBTQ+ individuals are entitled to equal justice under the law. Garden State Equality strongly supports Rachel’s nomination and knows that she will add to the Court’s storied legacy of defending the rights of all of New Jersey’s residents.”

*Garden State Equality Executive Board Member and former state bar president Thomas Prol, Esq. did not participate in this matter because his service on the NJ State Bar Association Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee precludes him from making public statements regarding judicial and prosecutor candidates.
