Gloucester County Commissioner Nick DeSilvio Announces Candidacy for New Jersey Republican Party Chairman

Gloucester County, NJ — Gloucester County Commissioner Nick DeSilvio today announced his candidacy for Chairman of the New Jersey Republican Party, pledging to unite the party, rebuild its grassroots strength, and deliver victories across the state through disciplined messaging and hard-work driven campaigns.

DeSilvio, a U.S. Navy veteran who served nine years including during Operation Desert Storm, later became a Local 351 electrician and served six years on his local school board. In 2021, he led one of the most historic Republican victories in modern New Jersey history — defeating Senate President Steve Sweeney, the longest-serving county sheriff, a 27-year commissioner, and the Budget Appropriations Chairman. DeSilvio became the top vote-getter in both the county and the legislative district, and in 2024 became the first Gloucester County Commissioner re-elected in 40 years.

“Our party needs bold leadership that wins without fear — not leadership controlled by political bosses or consultants,” DeSilvio said. “We must unify, stay disciplined, and start winning again. I’ve proven we can beat the establishment, outwork the money, and deliver results for the people.”

As Chairman, DeSilvio is committed to working directly with all 21 county chairs and 42 state committee members, visiting every county, building stronger local operations, opening leadership to real input and criticism, and ending the consultant-driven culture that drains resources from candidates and activists.

“I’m not running for a title — I’m answering a call to service,” DeSilvio said. “We can rebuild this party, and we can fix this state. But we must do it together.”
