“The freedom of the press is a cornerstone of our democracy, and I was greatly disturbed to see an Asbury Park Press journalist arrested in Asbury Park during Monday night’s protests regarding George Floyd’s death. While I am glad that the reporter was released and charges rescinded, this arrest should never have happened in the first place. I spoke to the Attorney General last night to discuss this and how our state must educate members of state and local law enforcement to ensure that this never happens again.”
