Helmin Caba – It’s Time for Perth Amboy to Choose Change

Our City Deserves New Leadership With a Real Vision’

PERTH AMBOY, NJ – (Dec. 14, 2020) – Mayoral candidate Helmin J. Caba says Tuesday’s runoff election is the best chance for city residents to “choose change” after a dozen years of incompetent leadership in City Hall that “failed miserably” to make Perth Amboy a better place to live and work.

“This is an opportunity for people to choose sensible, decisive leadership that will make our city economically resilient, affordable, safer and more livable,” said Councilman Caba, who is challenging Mayor Wilda Diaz another four-year term.

“My campaign offers residents two things Mayor Diaz has never delivered: Hope for a better future and a real plan that – with hard work, cooperation and God’s grace – will significantly improve our proud city,” Caba said. “We have a bold blueprint for Perth Amboy’s future. Where is Wilda’s plan?”

Caba and City Council running mates Rose B. Morales and Bienvenido “BJ” Torres Jr. have developed a 27-point strategy to stabilize property taxes, attract new business and commercial investments, bring more jobs, rebuild the city’s economic vitality and resuscitate City Hall’s fiscal health.

Their “2020 Vision Team” has earned scores of endorsements from current and former city officials, educators, business owners, civic leaders and residents. “My running mates and I are grateful for this tremendous groundswell of local support from friends, neighbors and constituents,” said Caba.

“Unlike Wilda, we did not plead for last-minute endorsements from out-of-town politicians who cannot possibly understand our city’s challenges,” Caba said. “People who live here are best qualified to recognize that she has failed miserably her duties. They clearly understand that our city deserves new leadership with a real vision for our future.”

Final results from the Nov. 3rd election show 9,956 voters – 67% of the total turnout – want a fresh start for our city and in City Hall. “I am counting on those courageous voter to continue their support for meaningful and beneficial change for our city. Together, we can and will make a huge difference.”

The “2020 Vision for Perth Amboy” team” is on Line A of the Vote-By-Mail ballots. Ballots must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service within the next 24 hours or placed in secure drop boxes outside City Hall or Municipal Court.
