Hudson County Black Caucus Grieves Death of Former State Senator Ronald Rice

Credits Rice for Paving the Way for Black Legislators

 

(Jersey City, NJ— March 16, 2023)– “The members of the Hudson County Black Caucus are filled with grief over the passing of former New Jersey Senator Ronald L. Rice. He was a trailblazer for Black elected officials and paved the way with his tenacity and leadership for many of us to follow in his footsteps.

 

“As a New Jersey State Senator for more than three decades representing our neighbors in Newark, Senator Rice was a tireless advocate for legislation that protected our civil rights, improved public safety, and advanced economic opportunities throughout New Jersey. He was a true leader and a mentor to many. He inspired countless individuals to become involved in public service and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of leaders. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
