NEWARK, NJ – U.S. Representative Donald M. Payne, Jr., (D-Newark) has been endorsed by the Hudson County Central Labor Council in the upcoming Democratic Primary Election in the 10th Congressional District, which includes parts of Jersey City. A fierce advocate for labor unions and working families, Congressman Payne has won the support of numerous unions and other organizations pushing for progressive policies.

“Time and time again, Congressman Payne has proven himself a champion for working people and a stalwart ally of the labor movement,” said Barry Kushnir, President of the Hudson County Central Labor Council. “He will continue to fight for our right to organize, for better wages, for safer working conditions, and for crucial legislative priorities like the PRO Act. The Hudson County Central Labor Council is proud to support him in his re-election campaign.”

The Hudson Central Labor Council’s endorsement builds upon Congressman Payne’s already substantial support within the labor community, reflecting his commitment to collective bargaining rights and the rights of all workers to form and join unions. His campaign has already received the endorsement of the Communication Workers of America NJ, AFSCME NJ, and Laborers International North America Eastern Region, among many others. “I am incredibly honored to have earned the support of the Hudson County Central Labor Council. The working families of Hudson County are the backbone of our community, and I will always stand with our labor family,” said Congressman Payne. “Together, we will continue to invest in people, to create good paying, union jobs, and to bring the resources and opportunities back to Hudson County, the 10th Congressional District, and the great state of New Jersey.”

Congressman Payne has recently been endorsed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, New Jersey Education Association, the Communications Workers of America NJ, Laborers’ International North America Eastern Region, the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association and AFSCME NJ.
