Veteran Congressman Will Help Urge Hudson Residents to Vote Early

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Chairwoman Amy DeGise and the Hudson County Democratic Organization will hold a “Get Out the Early Vote” Rally on Sunday, October 24th that will be headlined by Governor Phil Murphy and South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn, a political icon who was instrumental in President Joe Biden’s 2020 victory. The event will be held at 4:00pm at Courtney Fricchione Park, 179 West Side Avenue in Jersey City. Governor Murphy and Chairwoman DeGise are urging voters to attend the rally where Congressman Clyburn will be delivering remarks, and to make sure that they have a plan to vote early in the upcoming election.

“We are so excited to have Governor Murphy and Rep. Clyburn join us for this important event as we work to make sure that Hudson County residents know that they now have the option to vote early,” said Hudson County Democratic Chair Amy DeGise. “This election is a critical moment for the Democratic Party in our state, and we must do everything possible to re-elect Governor Murphy and Democrats down the ballot. Now more than ever we need elected leadership that has proven their ability to get things done, as we continue to recover from Covid, and get New Jersey vaccinated and back to work. I encourage anyone who is able to attend on Sunday to do so, and make sure that you are talking to your friends and family about making a plan to vote early!”

Congressman Clyburn represents South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District. He has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1993 and is the third ranking Democrat in the House. A former educator and activist, Clyburn was also instrumental in ensuring Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 Democratic Primary. He endorsed then candidate Biden three days before the South Carolina Primary, where Biden’s subsequent victory proved to be a turning point in the campaign.

The Get Out the Early Vote rally will be held at Courtney Fricchione Park, 179 West Side Ave on Sunday, October 24th at 4PM. Light refreshments will be provided, as well as remarks from Congressman Clyburn and surprise entertainment.

Residents can vote early from Saturday October 23rd to Sunday October 31st, or on Election Day on Tuesday, November 2nd.
