Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise Announces Opening of Pfizer Vaccine Clinic on Saturday for Individuals 12+

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Hudson County will open its vaccination center in Kearny on Saturday morning to administer the Pfizer vaccine to anyone who is 12 year or older and lives, works or studies in Hudson County. The decision to add an additional vaccination day this week comes after federal guidelines were updated to allow children as young as 12 to begin receiving the vaccine and affords youngsters the opportunity to get vaccinated without missing school.

The site currently has 150 appointments open between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and an additional 1,200 Pfizer doses available on Monday. Anyone who still needs to be vaccinated is encouraged to schedule an appointment today by visiting hudsoncovidvax.org.

“Expanding eligibility of the Pfizer vaccine for younger populations is another big step forward in our fight against COVID-19,” said County Executive Tom DeGise. “We are working to make this vaccine more easily available to students by offering weekend vaccinations at our county-run site so they do not miss classroom time. I encourage anyone who lives, works or studies in Hudson County who has not yet been vaccinated to trust the science and schedule an appointment today.”

About the Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center: The Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center is operated by Hudson Regional Health Commission and overseen by County Executive Tom DeGise’s Vaccine Task Force, which includes representatives from the Hudson County Improvement Authority, the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management, County Department of Roads and Public Property, the Hudson County Schools of Technology and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office. The center is located at the USS Juneau Center at 110 Hackensack in Kearny.
