July 8, 2020 – Jersey City, NJ – Today, the Board of Directors of Hudson Pride Center (HPC) announced that they have appointed long time staff member Elizabeth Schedl as the organization’s new Executive Director.

Obsetee Korme, Board Chair for the Hudson Pride Center says, “Elizabeth has been a shining star and along with her team has proven their commitment and love for the work they do for the LGBTQ+ community here in Hudson County and beyond. I have watched Elizabeth grow over the past few years and watching her evolve into a strong and determined leader has been an honor. I have no doubt this evolution will lead the Center to new heights.”

Schedl, a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with her M.A. in International Studies and B.A. in Criminal Justice. While she most recently served as the Center’s Chief Operations Officer, she previously served as the Deputy Director as well as Community Relations Director over the six years she has been with the organization. She has helped to drive transformational change resulting in the Center’s operational sustainability and growth and is currently working closely with the Board of Directors on a revamped comprehensive strategic plan to expand the Center and its development opportunities.

Schedl will continue to oversee everyday operations of the Hudson County based organization. Since the Global health crisis of COVID-19, the Center has moved to remote and virtual operations and continues to connect with our LGBTQ+ population to ensure that support, resources, education and socialization is available.

“Working for Hudson Pride has been my pleasure. I have had the honor of helping this agency grow and expand, taking on new programs and partnerships to further support the LGBTQ+ community and those most at risk within it” Schedl said, adding “It is a joy to be part of this team and to collaborate with so many agencies and individuals that support us. Our staff and board are working towards some significant changes for our center that will further enhance the growth of our services and ability to connect with individuals, while also securing our center’s future for the years to come.”
