HUDSON PRIDE CENTER PARTNERSHIP WITH LORD, ABBETT & CO. LLC & NEW CENTER HOME SUPPORTED BY THE CITY OF JERSEY CITY

Jersey City, N.J., May 12th, 2021– Yesterday, Steven M. Fulop, Mayor of Jersey City, joined Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC and Hudson Pride to support and congratulate them on their new partnership. Last month, Hudson Pride announced Lord Abbett’s support in the creation and function of a new center home and the firm’s pledge to contribute $700,000 over the next three years. With Lord Abbett’s financial support, Hudson Pride will continue to provide a secure and safe physical home for the LGBTQ+ community in a brand-new center located in the Journal Square area of Jersey City and to enhance the diverse programming and services it offers.

In celebrating the partnership, Mayor Steven Fulop said, “Our progressive efforts in LGBTQ civil rights have established Jersey City as a welcoming and inclusive community that has gained national recognition for eight consecutive years. While we’re addressing systemic discrimination through municipal action, it’s been our intention to lead by example, and so I’m especially grateful to Lord Abbett for taking the initiative to support Hudson Pride and further promote equality to elevate our diverse community.”

Hudson Pride Center (HPC) was founded in 1993 by a group of activists who recognized the need for an agency that focused on the safety and well–being of its LGBTQ+ residents during the AIDS epidemic. Today, HPC is the largest LGBTQ+ social service center in New Jersey.  Hudson Pride is a safe and transformative space that provides health services, professional resources, and programs that unite our LGBTQ+ community in order to support the safety and well-being of all LGBTQ+ people.
