Hudson Vaccine Center Administers 100% of Weekly COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation Despite Winter Storm

Additional 1,800 First Doses Expected to be Administered Next Week

KEARNY, N.J. — Despite a multi-day storm that dumped up to two feet of snow in North Jersey earlier this week, the Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center has successfully administered 100% of its COVID-19 vaccine allocation for the week. This week, roughly 1,800 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine while 912 were administered their second dose. The center has also reached a new milestone, having now administered 10,000 vaccines (8,753 first doses and 1,247 second doses) since opening its doors in late December.

“The snow emergency we experienced earlier this week certainly presented us with challenges but despite the storm, we are incredibly proud to have successfully administered our complete inventory of COVID-19 vaccines as anticipated,” said Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise. “This is a true testament of our commitment to vaccinate all of our residents in a timely manner as they become eligible. I thank our Roads and Public Property and Park Departments, as well as those working in Corrections, for going above and beyond this week to ensure our vaccination was clear and accessible to everyone.”

Next week, the county-run site will be administering 1,800 first doses and 1,300 second doses The center is open by appointment only. Eligible individuals can make an appointment online by visiting hudsoncovidvax.org.

About the Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center: The Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center is operated by Hudson Regional Health Commission and overseen by County Executive Tom DeGise’s Vaccine Task Force, which includes representatives from the Hudson County Improvement Authority, the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management, County Department of Roads and Public Property, the Hudson County Schools of Technology and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office. The center is located at the USS Juneau Center at 110 Hackensack in Kearny.
