Inauguration of Governor Phil Murphy and Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver
TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy and Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver will be sworn in for their second terms in office at the Patriots Theater at the Trenton War Memorial at 11:00 a.m. on January 18, 2022. Chief Justice Stuart Rabner of the New Jersey Supreme Court will administer the oaths of office. The Inauguration will be open press, with prior RSVPs and health screenings required for all attendees, including members of the media.
“Four years ago, I committed myself to this office with a clear mission to make New Jersey stronger and fairer. Since then, we have made tremendous progress in making our state work for every family in every community,” said Governor Murphy. “I recommit to keeping New Jersey moving forward as the Opportunity State, where the American Dream is achievable for all who are willing to work hard.”
“In November, the voters reaffirmed a new direction for our state – one of progress that focuses on record-breaking investments for working families. I look forward to standing by Governor Murphy’s side next week as we are sworn into a second term of office that will advance this progress.” said Lieutenant Governor Oliver. “I pledge that as your Lt. Governor I will work just as hard these next four years to fight for issues of social justice, educational equality, fair housing, and increased economic opportunities for every family in New Jersey.”
