INDIVISIBLE NEW JERSEY 5^TH DISTRICT ISSUES CONGRESSIONAL ENDORSEMENT

(FAIR LAWN, JANUARY 14TH) Indivisible NJ 5th District, the progressive grassroots group based in New Jersey’s 5^th Congressional District, is endorsing challenger Dr. Arati Kreibich for Congress. The group’s mission is to hold elected officials accountable for their votes and actions. They have been closely following the NJ5 Representative, Josh Gottheimer, and believe that Dr. Kreibich would better represent the residents of the District. According to Jeanne Stella, “Arati running is the best thing to happen to the 5^th District since we got rid of Garrett.”

A progressive Democrat, Arati Kreibich supports healthcare for all, prioritizing green solutions for the environment, reclaiming federal tax credits for local property taxes, promoting NY-NJ transit corridors, protecting Social Security benefits, defining a path to citizenship for immigrants, committing to sensible federal gun legislation, implementing campaign finance reform,  providing women the right to control their bodies, and recognizing LGBTQ citizens as equal under the law. She is an immigrant, an accomplished neuroscientist, and an elected member of the Glen Rock council who has brought smart funding decisions and green initiatives to the town. Dr. Kreibich was selected for endorsement by Indivisible NJ 5^th District after she and Rep. Gottheimer were sent detailed questionnaires to determine their positions on a range of issues. Their submissions were distributed to the membership who voted on endorsement. Arati secured over 89% of the votes. “Clearly our membership recognized that Arati would represent the needs of the entire NJ-5 population without being beholden to high dollar funders,” stated Marinus ‘Han’ Broekman. “As a scientist, she will look at the facts, and stand up for both the present economic needs and the future health of our community and beyond. Indivisible NJ 5^th District generally meets the first Saturday of the month at the Fair Lawn public library and the third Tuesday evening at the River Edge public library. With a 1060+ facebook membership and about 300 direct members, the group hosts numerous rallies and actions supporting progressive issues along with national and local partners like Indivisible, MoveOn, Moms Demand Action, Planned Parenthood, Action Together NJ, Ridgewood JOLT, Teaneck Women Together, and Ramsey PINS.
