On August 9, 2021, Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican candidate for Governor of New Jersey, joined the Brian Kilmeade Show on Fox News Radio to discuss his campaign. Speaking with guest host Harry Hurley live from Israel, Jack covered a wide range of topics including Phil Murphy’s disastrous COVID-19 response, school mask mandates, his running mate Diane Allen, and more.

You can find excerpts from Jack’s conversation with Harry Hurley below, or click here to listen to the full interview, which begins at the 1:36:56 mark.

On the Current State of the Race

“I see this race continuing to tighten as we move closer and closer to Election Day, Harry. So we’re gonna continue to talk about the issues that matter the most to New Jerseyans. We’re gonna continue to talk about the things Phil Murphy never talks about — number one, property taxes, and number two, creating jobs. I just did a video [on this] last week, for the first time in 63 years, Oreo cookies will no longer be made in New Jersey. Nabisco moved out, and took 600 jobs with it. You don’t hear Phil Murphy say a thing about this. We can’t have businesses leaving New Jersey, we need businesses coming to New Jersey.

On Phil Murphy’s COVID-19 Response

“His decisions killed seniors and veterans in our nursing homes. His decisions closed one out of three small businesses on Main Street, mom-and-pop shops that were in families for generations and now are gone forever. And we know what impact that has not just on the economy, but on our local communities. And his lack of leadership has kept children out of school.”

On Mandating Masks for Children in School

“I firmly believe this should be a parental choice. This is another infringement on parental rights, and I don’t know why the Governor has to force this upon people. Let people make the choice. It’s pretty clear that wearing masks, particularly for our youngest students, affects their emotional and intellectual development. It infringes upon their learning, and we shouldn’t have that. … And that’s what I would’ve said come this September: that it’s up to parents as to whether or not their children wear a mask in school.”

On His Running Mate, Senator Diane Allen

“My responsibility to the people of New Jersey is [that] the second in command can run the show, and she can. If there was a Mount Rushmore of New Jersey legislators, Diane Allen would be on it. She’s a fiscal conservative, she’s a champion of women’s rights, she’s won six elections, all in races where Democrats outnumber Republicans, so she transcends the political divide. And I couldn’t be more pleased, and the reaction to my announcement has been extremely well-received all around the state. We’re gonna kick some butt over the next three months and we’re gonna win this election.
