JOSH GOTTHEIMER LAUNCHES “WOMEN FOR JOSH”

RIVER EDGE, NJ — Ahead of the 2024 election, “Women for Josh,” a group of North Jersey women in local and state government and women across North Jersey, endorsed Congressman Josh Gottheimer for re-election at an event in River Edge.

“Josh has consistently championed the issues that matter most to us,” said Assemblywoman Lisa Swain. “He has been a leader on reproductive rights, addressing commuter concerns, fighting against unfair congestion pricing, and advocating for the restoration of the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction. We can count on Josh to fight for what’s right for New Jersey.”

“Josh Gottheimer is a tireless advocate for New Jersey,” said Commissioner Mary Amoroso. “He is a problem solver who works across the aisle for his constituents. He works to ensure that women and families get their fair share. That’s why I support Congressman Josh Gottheimer.”

“We can count on Josh Gottheimer to get things done for Jersey,” said Commissioner Germaine Ortiz. “In Congress, Josh delivered valuable resources for our law enforcement and defended our elections and the safety of election workers. I’m proud to support Congressman Josh Gottheimer.”

“Josh Gottheimer has been an invaluable partner in Congress,” said Commissioner Tracy Zur. “He tenaciously fights to bring money back to the district to support our first responders, fund food security initiatives, invest in infrastructure, and strengthen our community.  Josh advocates for women’s rights, the LGBTQ community, and reproductive freedom, and we need him fighting for us. I am proud to support Congressman Josh Gottheimer.”

“I am honored and humbled to receive the support and advice of so many influential Jersey women who have dedicated their lives to public service and have given so much to our great state. To fight alongside councilwomen, mayors, county commissioners, and assemblywomen to make a difference for our families is the ultimate privilege,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “Whether it is defending abortion access from extremists who want to take away healthcare options for women, lowering the cost of childcare, ensuring equal pay for equal work, closing the disparities in health coverage, or reducing the barriers women face in business, I will fight for the women of Jersey and always work to make their lives, and the lives of their families better.”

Gottheimer’s work to support Jersey women includes:

Ensuring equal pay for equal work: Gottheimer co-sponsored the Paycheck Fairness Act to close the persistent gap between men and women’s earnings, guaranteeing that people are paid fairly regardless of their gender.

Fighting against deceptive, anti-choice centers that pose as healthcare providers: Earlier this year, Gottheimer launched a campaign to shutdown Crisis Pregnancy Centers. These fake clinics are not staffed by real medical professionals but mislead women into thinking they’re receiving healthcare. The real goal of these organizations is to prevent women from accessing abortion care. Gottheimer is working to stop their spread of misinformation through his Stop Anti-Abortion Disinformation Act.

Lowering costs for hardworking families: Gottheimer led the battle to kill New York’s commuter-crushing Congestion Tax, continues to fight to restore the State and Local Tax (SALT) Deduction, and launched a Childcare Affordability Plan to combat the steep price of childcare Jersey parents face.

Members of Women for Josh include: Assemblywoman Lisa Swain, Commissioners Germaine Ortiz, Mary Amoroso, and Tracy Zur, Mayor Gail Rottenstrich, Deputy Mayor Cristina Cutrone, Councilwomen Hedy Grant, Ila Kasofsky, Erin Collins, Michelle Kaufman, Jackie DeMuro, and Jacquie Flyn, Chairwomen Esther Fletcher, Marie Papaleo, and Melvina Cobb, and River Edge resident Anu Thadani.
