Karabinchak on Second Hearing of the Assembly Special Committee on Infrastructure and Natural Resources

(Trenton)- Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement on the meeting of the Assembly Special Committee on Infrastructure and Natural Resources:

“During our first committee meeting, we had a robust conversation on the current state of affairs and needs of New Jersey’s industries pertaining to our natural resources. We heard from varied panelists on the utility industry’s aging workforce and what we can do to strengthen workforce development. The insight we gained highlighted immediate concerns and gave us a better understanding of ways we can move forward in the future.

“With that same energy, today’s conversation focused on the use of the state’s water infrastructure projects as an economic recovery tool.

“New Jersey is beginning to chart a course for rebuilding and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. How can the current water infrastructure projects help in this effort as many residents are looking to return to work? What can we do to strengthen the utilities’ workforce, help families, and boost the economy? We know the questions and we will find the answers.

“These are unprecedented and challenging times for New Jersey and the country. Getting to a new normal will require us to think outside of the box. All of New Jersey’s industries have been impacted by this health crisis and each of them should be a part of recovery efforts.”
