Lagana, Swain & Tully on Need for Restoration of Pascack Valley Line Trains

(TRENTON) – In response to the New Jersey Transit CEO and President’s statement that the Pascack Valley Line express trains will continue to go unrestored, Senator Joseph Lagana, Assemblywoman Lisa Swain and Assemblyman Chris Tully (D-Bergen/Passaic) released the following joint statement:

“For nearly a year and a half, residents of Bergen County and the surrounding areas have had to deal with a lack of services that affect their daily lives. Passengers who once relied on these express trains to travel quickly and directly to their jobs have had to seek out other means of transportation that are less expedient and reliable.

“Commuting via train can already be a complicated process without an individual losing access to local services. With recent increases in funding and engineer recruitment, NJ Transit’s customers deserve better from their public transportation.

“The decision to continue delaying the restoration of these express trains is unacceptable. We will do everything we can to address this issue and seek out a satisfactory solution on behalf of our hardworking residents.”
