Lance Statement on Ending Government Shutdown
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) released the following statement after Senate Democrats decided to support government funding/Children’s Health Insurance Program legislation:
“Government funding and CHIP should have been signed into law last week and a government shutdown completely avoided. Shutting down the government is always bad public policy – a strategy I opposed this year and in 2013 under President Obama. I am pleased cloture passed in the Senate today with strong bipartisan support. The government will soon be reopened, our troops will be paid and a full reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program will be signed into law. I will continue to be involved in Problem Solvers Caucus discussions on DACA/border security legislation.”
