Lawrence Democratic Municipal Committee Re-Elects Elissa Grodd Schragger, Esq., as Chairwoman

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (June 22, 2026) — The Lawrence Democratic Municipal Committee held its reorganization meeting on Saturday, June 20, 2026, where members overwhelmingly elected the committee's leadership team.

Elissa Grodd Schragger, Esq. was re-elected to serve a second term as Chairwoman.  Grodd Schragger is the Director of Law and Township Attorney for Hamilton Township, appointed six years ago to the position by Mayor Jeff Martin.  Previously she served as the President of the Mercer County Federation of Democratic Women.

Most recently, in her role as Chairwoman, Grodd Schragger successfully objected to petitions filed by an Independent to challenge the Democratic Incumbent Councilwoman Bonne Giglio in November.  Grodd Schragger submitted enough evidence of fraud and bad faith to show that the integrity of the election was at risk.  The candidate withdrew his candidacy within five hours of her filed brief.

Grodd Schragger has publicly endorsed and is a strong supporter of Jennifer Keyes-Maloney for Chairwoman of the Mercer County Democratic Organization.

The committee also elected the following officers to serve on the Executive Board:

  • Vice Chair: Jerome Montes

  • Secretary: Joe Forte

  • Treasurer: Theodore Siggelakis

Montes is the Director of Outreach, Communications and Marketing at New Jersey Citizen Action, with nearly two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector. Forte is the Vice-Chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee LGBTQ Caucus and the former Acting Chair of the Mercer County Board of Social Services.  He is a veteran public servant.  Siggelakis is the Director of Communications & Intergovernmental Affairs for Mercer County Executive Dan Benson as well as the owner of Broad Street Strategy, a political fundraising firm; additionally he is the co-owner of The Guitar Rescue in Lawrence which specializes in vintage and used gear, instrument setups and guitar modifications.

“With the upcoming federal and state races as well as the majority of council up for election the following year, the next two years are important for Lawrence Township Democrats” said Mayor Christopher Bobbitt. “Embodying the talent and diversity of our community, I am grateful that these four dedicated members stepped up to bring positive leadership to the committee. I look forward to working in tandem with Elissa for a stronger, more equitable and welcoming Lawrence Township.”
