LD 22 – Assembly Candidates Warn Parents They are Losing Control of Their Childrens Future
President Joe Biden at the National and State Teacher of the Year celebration at the
White House said: “There is no such thing as someone else’s child.”
It must be true that the left believes they own your child.
Linden/Clark – Last month the NJ State Attorney General Matthew Platkin sued three
school districts over parental notification policies. The districts were putting in place
policies which differed from those espoused by our Gov. Murphy. The new policies
dealt with how those districts would be handling gender identity issues going forward.
The districts would now be notifying parents if their child declared that they wanted to
change their pronouns, viewed themselves as not having the appropriate feelings for
the gender that they were assigned at birth. Or if the school staff believed that a child
suffered from gender dysphoria which they believe should be medically treated.
Currently, schools are under no obligation to communicate to the parents their child’s
desires or possible transgender leanings which the staff has been made aware.
The state AG says that these newly adopted policies violate state anti-discrimination
laws. And further, over the past year he has sued numerous other NJ districts who have
adopted non-conforming notification policies which would serve to “out” the students
to their parents who may not be understanding or accepting of the child’s situation.
“Apparently, the rights of thousands of parents mean nothing to Murphy or the AG,”
stated Patricia Quattrocchi, GOP Assembly candidate. Her running mate in LD 22, Lisa
Fabrizio agreed and stressed that the parents know the child better than the school
district and are therefore better equipped to provide the proper guidance.
Fabrizio and Quattrocchi, both mothers stressed that the schools do not allow students
to go on field trips even to the school library without a signed permission slip. They alert
parents if their child has a stomachache or a stubbed toe. But in their view when a child
is dealing with a life-changing gender issue parental notification should not be
necessary. Further a Monmouth University Poll recently released showed that the
majority surveyed support parental notification about gender ID. The poll also showed
that there is a range of opinions regarding teaching about gender identity with approval
for HS students and disapproval for younger students.
Fabrizio and Quattrocchi, view the current directive as the students being encouraged
to keep secrets. “Parents strive to form close relationships with their children by
instilling in them the value of honesty and encouraging them to confide in their parents
and not keep secrets. The schools are undermining the parent child relationship by
eroding this delicate trust. “
