LD30 Democratic Candidates Recognize the Importance of Women’s History Month

Howell Township, NJ: The Democratic Candidates for Legislative District 30 recognize the importance
of celebrating Women’s History Month. In a State with tremendous women elected to Federal, State
and Local offices there is still room for growth. While Congresswoman Mike Sherrill, Lieutenant
Governor Sheila Oliver, and Howell Township Mayor Theresa Berger set the standard for effective
leadership by elected Women, there is still room to improve.

Assembly candidate Matt Filosa recognizes “ As Women’s history month begins some may ask why are
we dedicating a month to women? Women have contributed to our communities and country since
the beginning but have often been overlooked. This is the 21st century, women deserve an equal seat
at the policy table with men and it is imperative that we support women getting involved in politics
and beyond. That means treating each other with mutual respect and standing with those who have
experienced harassment and discrimination. But not just standing with them but fighting for them.”
Assembly candidate Stephen Dobbins understands that “Women’s History month is a story of
courageous drive that has elevated all aspects of American life while continuing to fight for the equal
seat at the table. From Emmeline Pankhurst, Rosa Parks, Rosalind Franklin, and Aphra Behn to
modern trailblazers like Greta Gerwig, Mary Barra and Stacey Abrams these women have given a light and voice to generations. They undertook and continue to battle unnegotiated social terms, replacing
the unacceptable with at long last the opportunities which should have always been available to all.

Women have been, and many still are, scrutinized, put down, called names, thought of differently and
often put under such conditions in order to force them into silence. Women, however, define resilience
and that resilience has made the world a better place. This month we honor all the women currently
in our lives and for those who could not live in the fruits of their efforts. I will do everything in my
power to use my voice to continue the fight for equality.”

Senate candidate Dan Stinger believes that “Every March we celebrate the vast contributions women
have made to the United States of America. In these historic times, it is important to recognize strong
women in our community and amplify their voices. Not just in March but all year long.”

The LD30 Democratic ticket will continue to support and work for the women of LD30.
