LEADING POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP APPLAUDS RELEASE OF CANDID GLOBAL WARMING RESPONSE ACT REPORT

TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, supporting the release of the Global Warming Response Act 80X50 Report by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

“The DEP deserves a lot of credit for the work they’ve done on the ‘New Jersey Global Warming Response Act 80X50 Report.’ Their findings are a wakeup call to all New Jerseyans, requiring a moment of pause and reflection to understand the urgency and gravity of the situation regarding carbon emissions in our state,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. “Their findings show that with the current policies, we are not equipped to meet our emission reduction goals, meaning unequivocally, things will get worse if we don’t act. For many, this transparency is a hard pill to swallow, but it’s necessary. I’m confident that with our partners in the legislature combined with the leadership of Governor Murphy and Commissioner McCabe, we are well positioned to make the visionary changes needed to continue to boldly combat climate change, reduce emissions, and also create thousands of good local jobs that can’t be outsourced.”

New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives.
