LEADING POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP CONDEMNS MOB VIOLENCE, CALLS FOR NEW CONGRESS TO RESTORE DEMOCRACY AND FOCUS ON SOCIAL JUSTICE
TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, condemning the violence yesterday in the U.S. Capitol building, and asking the incoming Biden administration and the new Congress to focus on restoring our democracy and fighting for environmental justice.
“Our mission is to support policies to protect our environment from degradation, and we achieve our goals by working within the great institutions of our state and national governments. The invasion of Congress is an attack on all of us and unacceptable. We condemn mob rule at every level,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “We implore the Biden administration and the new Congress to get right to work and pass legislation to ensure free and fair elections where no voter faces barriers to voting, reforms to end institutional racism, environmental policies that are grounded in anti-racism, and other actions that will bring people together and move our great nation forward.”
New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives.
