LEADING POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATION CELEBRATES SENATE PASSAGE OF CLEAN ENERGY EQUITY ACT
TRENTON – The following is a statement from Lee Clark, Environmental Justice Policy Manager, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, supporting Senate passage of legislation that would establish an Office of Clean Energy Equity within the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) and drive investments in clean energy and energy efficiency in low and moderate-income communities.
“We applaud the Senate for their passage of this needed legislation (S-2484) to make sure everyone, not only the privileged few, have access to clean energy and the good local jobs that will be created from this effort,” said Lee Clark, Environmental Justice Policy Manager, New Jersey LCV. “Overburdened communities of color in New Jersey bear the brunt of pollution and are often left out of workforce development programs that train New Jerseyans for the new economy. Post-COVID, we must build a more sustainable and fairer New Jersey. We thank our partners at Vote Solar for their tireless advocacy, and urge quick passage by the Assembly and Governor Murphy’s signature for it to become law.”
