Lonegan Calls for FEC Investigation Into Pro-McCann Mailer

Township of Washington, N.J. – The Lonegan campaign says a vicious attack mailer endorsing John McCann while trashing Steve Lonegan is in violation of Federal Election Commission rules.

The mail piece in question was sent through the legislative arm of New Jersey Family Policy Council, NJ Family First, a 501(c)(4) non-profit group based in Warren, NJ. FEC rules prohibit 501(c)(4) organizations from directly supporting or endorsing candidates. The Lonegan campaign is now calling for an immediate and thorough FEC investigation into the matter.

“I knew the Democrats backing John McCann would come after me with everything they had, but even I didn’t think they would stoop as low as funneling money through a c4 and flagrantly violating FEC rules to do it,” stated Lonegan.

“This is a despicable and dishonest attack sent on behalf an admitted liar who is now lying through his teeth on the most essential issue to conservatives: life. John McCann is a pro-abortion liberal. As recently as two days ago he told the Bergen Record that Roe v. Wade is ‘the law’ and he would not lift a finger to ‘further limit abortion.’”

“I don’t know who got to NJ Family First and convinced them to sell out, but they did. It’s both disgusting and illegal,” charged Lonegan. “Tomorrow, I intend to file an FEC complaint against them. The FEC needs to take immediate action on this matter.”

Mayor Lonegan is one of 14 National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Young Guns “Contenders.” He has been endorsed by U.S. Senator Rand Paul, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Former Presidential Candidate Steve Forbes, Corey Lewandowski, Former Trump Campaign Manager, Dave Bossie, Former Trump Campaign Deputy Campaign Manager, The Tea Party Express, the Republican Liberty Caucus, National Right to Life, Senator Gerry Cardinale, Senator Mike Doherty, Senator Joe Pennacchio, Senator Steve Oroho, Assemblyman Parker Space, Assemblyman Hal Wirths, Assemblyman John DiMaio, Assemblyman Erik Peterson, Assemblywoman Betty Lou DeCroce, Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi, Warren County Freeholder Director Richard D.
