Majority Leader Greenwald Statement on Passage of FY 2022 Budget Bill

(TRENTON) – Majority Leader Louis Greenwald (D-Camden, Burlington) released the following statement on the Legislature’s passage of the Fiscal Year 2022 State Budget (A-5870) in the Assembly and Senate on Thursday:

“Our budget funds significant new tax relief. We are fully funding Senior Freeze, updating the Homestead Rebate Program in order to provide much needed property tax relief to New Jersey residents, and expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit. We are making investments for our working families, and children through healthcare, affordable housing, school aid, and more. Helping revitalize local economies in their recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic is critical.

“Funding direct property tax relief programs for homeowners and making a record contribution to our pension system all go to help meet the needs of New Jerseyans. Cost-savings created under this budget, and its investment in longer-term projects, will generate better social and economic well-being for all our residents.

“I am proud of the legislation we passed; it is a reflection of the Legislature and Governor’s shared priorities and our commitment to them.”
