Malinowski Condemns Latest Trump Threat to Social Security, Medicare

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Congressman Tom Malinowski condemned Trump’s latest threat to cut Social Security and Medicare today, reaffirming his promise to defend the nearly 130,000 7th-District residents who rely on retirement and disability benefits every day.

Malinowski made defending Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid a central tenet of his 2018 campaign after Congressional Republicans threatened cuts to the programs in order to pay for nearly $2 trillion of corporate tax giveaways. He’s kept his promise in Congress, championing efforts to expand access to Medicare and securing $300 million of additional funding for the Social Security Administration.

“The Democratic House of Representatives is all that stands in the way of the outrageous cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid that Republican leadership promised in 2018 and Trump threatened again today,” said Malinowski. “So long as Democrats control the House, we’ll never allow that to happen.”
