Malinowski Sets Opening Quarter Fundraising Record
January 4th, 2017
(Rocky Hill, NJ) Tom Malinowski’s fourth quarter fundraising set a New Jersey record for the largest amount raised in an opening quarter by a democratic challenger, establishing him as the clear frontrunner in the Democratic Primary. Since entering the race in October, Malinowski has raised over $525,000; surpassing the individual second and third quarter fundraising totals of his primary opponents by nearly double, and besting Rep. Leonard Lance’s most successful fundraising quarter which was almost a decade ago.
In what will likely be the most competitive and expensive race NJ7 has ever seen, with over $440,000 cash on hand, Malinowski is already proving to be Lance’s most formidable opponent. “Republicans are very aware that they could lose a seat they have held for 37 years and will spend whatever it takes to defend it,” said Malinowski. “The unprecedented outpouring of support our campaign has received is clear evidence that I am the Democrat best equipped, and most likely, to defeat Congressman Lance.”
Tom has spent a lifetime defending America’s ideals of democracy and human rights, serving as Assistant Secretary of State under President Obama, on the National Security Council under President Clinton and working with Human Rights Watch. The son of immigrants who fled Communist Poland for a better life in America,Tom grew up in Central Jersey. His long career in public service, his commitment to pragmatic progressive values, and the strong campaign he has built are what drove the overwhelming support he enjoyed in the fourth quarter of 2017.
