Adrian O. Mapp Qualifies Decisively for NJ-12 Democratic Congressional

Primary with Overwhelming Support

(MARCH 23, 2026) TRENTON, NJ — Today, the campaign of Adrian O. Mapp announced that his campaign has filed petitions containing the signatures of 1500 residents of New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District who support his candidacy in the upcoming Democratic primary.

The filing significantly exceeds the required number of signatures, demonstrating broad grassroots backing from voters across the district. The level of support is made more significant by the fact that last year, New Jersey’s legislature passed a measure more than doubling the required number of signatures, from 200 to 500, to qualify for the primary ballot.

“I am humbled and thankful to the residents of the 12th District for helping me take this major step toward representing our state in Congress,” Mapp said. “This not only validates my candidacy by officially placing me on the ballot. It reflects the energy, enthusiasm, and belief that residents across the 12th District have in my vision for effective, accountable leadership.”

Mapp, who emigrated to New Jersey from Barbados, has spent decades serving the state’s residents in public service. He is serving his fourth term as the mayor of Plainfield, which is in the district. He has also served as a Councilman, a County Commissioner, and is a former commissioner on the Local Finance Board for the state of New Jersey.  He has more than 25 years of experience in public and private sector finance.

The Democratic primary election for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District will take place on June 2, 2026.
