MAYOR BHALLA APPOINTS DANIEL LOBUE AS ACTING POLICE CHIEF, EFFECTIVE JULY 1
Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla has appointed Hoboken Police Captain Daniel LoBue as Acting Police Chief, effective July 1, 2021, the date of Police Chief Ken Ferrante’s retirement. Captain LoBue, a Hoboken native, is the Hoboken Police Department’s Senior Ranking Officer, serving the department for over 33 years.
“Captain LoBue is a well-respected and accomplished member of the Hoboken Police Department, and I am thankful he has agreed to serve his City as the Acting Police Chief,” said Mayor Bhalla. “His longtime experience in the department will serve him well in the new role, and I know he will work tirelessly to keep our residents safe. I look forward to working with him in the months ahead.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve the City of Hoboken as Acting Chief,” said Captain LoBue. “I would like to thank Mayor Bhalla and his administration for allowing me to serve in this capacity as I near the end of my career with the Hoboken Police Department. I am eager to lead the department until a permanent appointment is named.”
“I wish Danny the best of luck and success in his new position,” said Chief Ken Ferrante. “Captain LoBue brings the combination of intelligence, analysis and foresight, and investigative knowledge, all part of a skill set which will help him handle this transition and head the Hoboken Police Department over the coming months. He has also served the City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Police Department for over three decades which gives him expansive institutional knowledge of our agency.”
Mayor Bhalla will interview eligible candidates for the position of permanent Hoboken Police Chief once Civil Service administers the Police Chief’s exam and publishes the results, which is scheduled for later this year.
The City will hold a retirement ceremony for Chief Ferrante and promotion ceremony for Captain LoBue and other members of the department in the coming weeks.
