Mayor Rafferty: The Man who Built Hamilton, a release from the Mercer County Young Republicans

In communities across America, there are always men and women who stand out in the collective memory of their residents. They do not reach the heights of celebrity or the summits of prestige, but in their own ways they leave unforgettable legacies in their cities and towns. For Hamilton Township, it was Mayor John K. Rafferty.

The first directly elected mayor of a blossoming township, Jack Rafferty built it into America’s favorite hometown. From Veterans Park to the Hamilton Train Station to the AMC movie theater, and the fond memories from dozens upon dozens of weddings, festivals, campaigns, and more, Jack Rafferty’s impact runs wide and deep in his beloved Hamilton Township.

For 24 years he was a titan of the Mercer GOP and even in retirement he was an icon for Republicans, in particular, young Republicans. As the MCYRs continue our mission of championing good government, we will now and always, dedicate part of that mission to maintaining the strong sense of community and love for one another that embodied Jack’s entire political career.

The MCYRs extend our condolences to the Rafferty family as they put to rest The Man Who Built Hamilton
