CLC Leadership Calls Mayor Fulop a Champion for Labor and Jersey City’s Working Class
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The Hudson County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO endorsed Mayor Steven Fulop and his full council slate in the Jersey City mayoral election, citing his robust record of standing up for labor rights and unions. Mayor Fulop was an early supporter of a $15 minimum wage, earned sick leave, and better working conditions, and has proven himself to be a consistent advocate for truly equitable economic development in Jersey City.
“I am proud to stand with the working people of Jersey City in their fight for economic and social justice, and the Hudson CLC’s endorsement is a huge honor and recognition of that fight,” said Mayor Fulop. “The work that the CLC does to empower working people and advance labor rights at all levels of government is invaluable, and I am committed to working closely with CLC leadership to advance workers’ rights and ensure equitable economic development in our city.”
The Hudson County Central Labor Council is a democratically elected body, dedicated to advocating for justice and workers’ rights at all levels of government.
“The CLC is proud to endorse Mayor Fulop and his Council team” said Barry Kushnir, President, Hudson CLC. “Mayor Fulop has proven that he will fight for working people, defend labor rights, and stand up for unions. He has shown himself to be a true champion for the working class, and I am confident that if re-elected he will continue to build on the progress that his administration has already made in making Jersey City a place where working people come first.”
The CLC’s endorsement builds upon increasing support for Mayor Fulop from unions and other labor and community organizations. Mayor Fulop has already received the endorsement of SEIU 32BJ, Hotel Trades Council, and the Amalgamated Transit Union. He has also been endorsed by the NJ Working Families Alliance, whose leadership expressed confidence in his relentless commitment to economic justice, equity, and bold climate policy.
