Mayor of Teaneck Thanks Assemblyman Gordon Johnson for his leadership and support for the People of Teaneck

“In these times, it is important to have leaders who stand up and help municipalities maintain and enhance services to their respective communities.” That is the view of Dr. Jim Dunleavy, Mayor of Teaneck.

“Municipalities are struggling to make ends meet due to the pandemic. Assemblyman Gordon Johnson is assisting the township in trying to get a waiver for Teaneck that would loosen the restrictions in the use of funds from PSEG to the township for an easement granted them to perform upgrade work to their power station in one of our parks. The State DEP/Green Acres is currently requiring the monies to be used only for park land acquisition. The waiver would not only allow for the purchase of open space if available but would give the township the flexibility in using any balances for other park enhancements. Without the waiver, these costs would be borne by the township taxpayers. In addition, if Teaneck cannot spend 100% of that money solely on purchase of land, the remainder of the money from PSEG will have to be given to the NJ Preservation Trust and not used in Teaneck.”

Assemblyman Johnson responded to our request and asked the DEP to consider a waiver for Teaneck. This is just another example of his tireless commitment to the municipalities he represents.

We thank Assemblyman Johnson for his leadership and commitment to Teaneck.
