JOHN MCCANN FOR CONGRESS

November 2, 2018 – Fifth District Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s campaign was rocked today as evidence was presented that he lied about sending fundraising emails relating to a hateful act committed against a family in Sussex County in late September.

Gottheimer promptly used the incident in multiple fundraising emails to donors to raise money for his re-election campaign. Gottheimer’s outrageous behavior was questioned by his opponent at the WRNJ Radio debate on Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Post-debate, New Jersey Herald reporters followed up with questions and Gottheimer told the New Jersey Herald reporters, “that any such letter did not come from my campaign.”

Gottheimer was exposed as a liar when copies of his email solicitations dated September 27, 2018 were produced. Gottheimer mailed the solicitations multiple times to raise money for his campaign.

“Sadly, this confirms what we have known all along. Josh Gottheimer lies, Josh Gottheimer trades on hate and Josh Gottheimer uses other people’s terror to benefit himself personally. The simple fact, Josh Gottheimer is an opportunistic liar who has now been caught in his deceit. Gottheimer’s behavior and lies are disgusting,” said his Republican opponent John McCann.

McCann continued, “Gottheimer was taught well by his mentors Bill and Hillary Clinton and by his ally Bob Menendez. Lie when it is convenient and use any situation to your personal advantage.”
