McCourt, Hernandez, and Sharma Announce Bid for County Commissioner – Challenge 50 Years of One-Party Rule

Morristown, NJ – T.C. McCourt (Dover), Judy Hernandez (Parsippany), and Alicia Sharma (Mount Olive) today filed their petitions with the Morris County Clerk to run with the Democratic Party for County Commissioner. After 50 years of one-party rule, Morris County needs fresh leadership in our government, and T.C., Judy, and Alicia can be those leaders with real-world experience and bold new ideas.

T.C. McCourt is a former Planning Commissioner and current member of the Dover Zoning Board of Adjustment. He serves on the Board of Directors of The New Jersey Planning Officials and is also the Secretary of the Morris County Heritage Commission. T.C. also worked as an advocate for the faculty of CCM during their ongoing labor dispute. This will be his second run for County Commissioner.

A two-time council candidate in Parsippany, Judy Hernandez’s professional background is in environmental engineering with a long history of environmental advocacy. Judy served on the Parsippany Open Space and Recreation Committee, Planning Board, and the Environmental Advisory Committee. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Parsippany Child Day Care Center.  She is also a founder/co-leader of the Parsippany Green Team, working to make Parsippany carbon neutral by 2030.

Alicia Sharma brings to the table a strong financial background. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and a master’s degree in business administration, and has worked with commercial businesses and nonprofits for over 30 years. Alicia is a lifelong volunteer and former candidate for Mount Olive Town Council. Her volunteerism and community service earned Alicia a seat on the Mount Olive Recreation Advisory Committee, Woodfield Community HOA Board, and the Mount Olive Public Library Board of Trustees. 

From school funding to environmental conservation to business development, County Commissioners make important decisions that impact the daily lives of all New Jerseyans. If elected, McCourt, Hernandez, and Sharma will be the kind of representatives that listen to their constituents. People should feel like they know their Board of County Commissioners.

Recently, the sitting Republican Commissioners have spent more time infighting than solving the problems that face Morris County. While they specialize in dysfunction, they neglect the stewardship of the county’s over $300 million budget. If elected, McCourt, Hernandez, and Sharma will prioritize the economy, education, and the environment to secure the future of Morris County.
