McCourt to Morris GOP: Thanks, But No Thanks.
MORRISTOWN – Today, T.C. McCourt released the following statement in response to Laura Ali, Chair of the Morris County Republican Party:
“I hear that Laura Ali, the Morris County Republican Chair, decided to join the Republicans of 2005 and propose a bridge to nowhere by inviting me to switch parties. Thanks, but no thanks.
I became a Democrat because I am a Democrat. Because Democrats believe in helping people, in building a society that works for everyone, and in a world where facts matter.
And as a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, how could I possibly betray myself AND my community for political clout and relevance, in the face of the NGJOP’s recent misinformation campaign vilifying LGBTQIA+ people?
I was proud to vote for Phil Murphy in November 2017, and even prouder to help re-elect him in 2021. Because he’s a Democrat. And so am I.
No, I’m happy right where I am, working to build a stronger, fairer New Jersey with the party of equality, the party of opportunity, and the party of truth.
That’s right, Laura, the Democratic Party.”
