McKeon on NJ’s Planned Purchase of Electric Buses, Trucks to Reduce Emissions
(TRENTON) – As the sponsor of recently-enacted environmental justice legislation, Assemblyman John McKeon (D-Essex, Morris) issued the following statement in support of the Governor’s recent announcement that New Jersey will use environmental settlement funds to purchase zero-emissions electric vehicles and equipment:
“I am pleased that Governor Murphy has chosen to utilize funds derived from the financial remuneration the state has received from polluters in a most appropriate manner.
“Vehicle emissions are the number one cause of air pollution, which is particularly harmful to the residents of our most burdened communities.”
“I applaud the Governor for walking the walk and building upon our historic environmental justice legislation. We must ensure every New Jerseyan has healthy and clean air to breathe. This is another step in making that commitment a reality.”
