McKeon Statement on RGGI Funding Plan to Combat Climate Change
(TRENTON) – In response to the Murphy administration releasing a strategic funding plan for investing the State’s auction proceeds from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative to combat climate change and build a green economy, Assemblyman John McKeon (D-Essex, Morris) released the following statement.
“To meet our goal of 100 percent clean energy by 2050, we’ll need to take bold, wide-ranging action to invest in our environment. Every investment into clean energy is also an investment into our economy, our health and our future.
“The projects outlined in this plan to reduce greenhouse gases and combat air pollution will create jobs and spur economic growth. It’s another step in developing New Jersey’s green economy and reinforcing our shared priorities for a clean and sustainable future.
“Once we have made it through the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ll undoubtedly be looking for ways to boost our economy. Creating new green jobs will help us recover from this economic crisis while also mitigating the impacts of climate change. It’s a win-win for all of New Jersey.”
