McKnight on Governor’s Action to Seek Appointment of Receiver at Woodland Behavioral & Nursing Center

(TRENTON) – Following Governor Phil Murphy, Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli, and Human Services Commissioner Sarah Adelman’s announcement on the legal action the State is taking to seek the appointment of a receiver at Woodland Behavioral and Nursing Center at Andover, Assemblywoman Angela McKnight (D-Hudson), Chair of the Assembly Aging and Senior Services Committee, issued the following statement:

“The situation at Woodland Behavioral and Nursing Center is completely unacceptable. Residents rely on the facility to provide a safe environment and quality long-term care, but those in charge have continued to fail them despite intervention from the State.

“I commend the Governor and the Commissioners of Health and Human Services for taking legal action to protect Woodland residents by seeking the appointment of a receiver at the facility.

“We must ensure senior citizens living in long-term care facilities have their needs met and are able to age with dignity and respect.”
