Meet Thomas Yannetti, the Youngest Official Elected to the South Hackensack Board of Education

Thomas Yannetti is a 3^rd generation resident of South Hackensack. He is a proud product of the South Hackensack school system from Pre-K to 8^th grade.  He is newly elected this past November after being appointed at age 22 to South Hackensack Board of Education during the pandemic, September of 2020. At age 23, he officially won his seat and as a result is now the youngest to be elected on the Board of Education, representing a trend that is growing throughout the State of New Jersey of young people becoming more civically engaged and involved in the political process.

Trustee Yannetti graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2020, double majoring in Finance and Accounting.

Thomas Yannetti, despite his relative youth, has developed a passion for public service due to his inspiration from his family who comes from a long line of work in the public sector. His late grandfather was a retired Captain of the South Hackensack Police Department, his father is a retired Assistant Superintendent of South Hackensack Department of Public Works, his mother works at the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, as well his two older siblings, one who works as a police officer in South Hackensack and the other as a public school educator in Secaucus.

Thomas Yannetti currently works in finance, specifically in wealth management helping individuals, families, and business owners prepare for their future.

“I’m so grateful to the residents of South Hackensack for this opportunity to give back to the community that has already given me so much,” said Trustee Thomas Yannetti.  “I look forward to contributing new ideas from a fresh perspective as well as having a seat at the table, but it is all about delivery now,” Yannetti added.
