Meisner Campaign: Michael Wildes Is ‘Running For Congress, Not Mayor’

MEISNER CAMPAIGN: MICHAEL WILDES IS RUNNING FOR CONGRESS, NOT MAYOR

ENGLEWOOD, NJ (May 31, 2018)—At the Black Clergy Council Candidates Forum Wednesday night, Michael Wildes was called out for offending and insulting Englewood’s fourth ward residents by repeatedly referring to hard working people as “lost souls” who needed Wildes handouts of free sandwiches. The truth is, if Wildes is elected mayor, all of Englewood will be lost when he abandons Englewood to run for Congress. How can he expect Englewood voters to believe he is not using the mayor’s race as a stepping stone to higher office when he maintains an active $700,000 congressional campaign account? What does he plan to do with $700,000? Wildes is no longer denying this, telling the New Jersey Globe on Wednesday, “I would always contemplate it.”

Wildes has already made failed attempts to run for state senate and assembly, and he advertises Rep. Bill Pascrell’s age almost as much as he advertises himself. He cannot be trusted to represent the best interests of Englewood while he is worrying about banking votes from outside of Englewood. This is what happened to New Jersey when Chris Christie decided on higher office. We can’t let that happen in Englewood.
