Mercer Republicans United Candidates Call for Transparent Ballot Counting Process
Jennifer Williams’ State Committee Candidacy Presses Forward
With the Mercer County Republican State Committeewoman race being a very close one and undecided, the Mercer Republicans United slate of candidates (Surrogate candidate Richard (Dick) LaRossa, Commissioner candidates Joseph Stillwell, Michel Hurtado, Volodymyr Machevus and State Committeewoman candidate Jennifer Williams) is calling for a fully transparent process during the counting of vote by mail ballots and provisional ballots by the Mercer County Board of Elections. Given the problem of voters who had already voted by mail mistakenly having the ability to vote at the polling booth from 6 am to approximately 1 pm yesterday, let alone the lack of reasonable response time to MRU Commissioner candidates’ OPRA requests for list of returned Republican vote-by-mail ballots – each of the Mercer Republicans United candidates are concerned about a fair, transparent and clean vote counting happening.
Mercer County Republican State Committeewoman candidate Jennifer Williams stated, “The counting of every vote is sacrosanct to our republic and the lifeblood of any democracy. Given the particular difficulties our Commissioner candidates have had in getting their approved OPRA requests for Republican Vote By Mail returns processed, our team wishes to observe the Vote By Mail ballot counting process managed by the County Board of Elections.”
Sharing his own concerns, Mercer County Commissioner candidate Volodymyr Machevus added, “having seen all the bigoted online attacks on Jennifer Williams and her own candidacy, it is imperative that our team is in the room to make sure that all votes are fairly reviewed and accurately counted. Having a fair and clean election is crucial in ensuring that the democratic process works and that everyone’s voice is heard.”
State Committeewoman candidate Jennifer Williams and the Mercer Republicans United slate of candidates look forward to a detailed accounting of all votes and a victory in this Republican Primary. Should a recount be necessary, information will be forthcoming. Please visit the website www.MercerRepublicansUnited.com for more information.
