Michael Roth for Congress Wins Critical Grassroots Endorsements from Indivisible Chapters Across the District

Westfield, NJ – Today, Michael Roth, candidate for Congress in NJ-07, announced that five Indivisible chapters from across the district have endorsed his campaign for Congress. The chapters of Indivisible Lambertville/New Hope, Indivisible Garden State Values, Indivisible Rahway, Indivisible Long Valley, and Warren County Action Together NJ issued a joint statement earlier today in support of Michael and his campaign.

“This is a monumental moment for our campaign and the people of this district,” said Michael Roth. “The organizers and people in these five Indivisible chapters are making their voices, priorities, and choice for this primary heard loud and clear — not just in opposition to Trump’s authoritarianism and Kean’s silence, but in response to a machine and party system that functions to serve those in power, not the people. And we’re not here to just do politics as usual — we’re here to empower people to make the change they want to see in Congress by showing up, listening, and fighting together. We saw how the energy behind Analila Mejia in NJ-11 changed the game, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do here: harness this collective energy, take action, and bring it home through Primary Day and again in November.”

The endorsement from Indivisible signals a marked shift and historic moment in New Jersey politics. This is the first time individual Indivisible chapters have endorsed a candidate in a primary in New Jersey, and in a highly-competitive, 4-way Democratic primary, this is in significant contrast to the traditional party convention system, in which Rebecca Bennett has consolidated the majority of support.

The endorsement of Roth comes following an intensive process by the organizations to engage and educate grassroots activists about each of the candidates through debates, forums, individual interviews, and questionnaires. Each organization subsequently surveyed its members using two or more rounds of ranked choice voting, and activists participated in a district-wide survey across all groups. The result made it clear that all five Indivisible groups were aligned in supporting Roth.

“Endorsement is not something we take lightly. It was important to us to ensure that our process was transparent and that our community was equipped to make an informed choice,” said Laura Bush, Indivisible Lambertville/New Hope. “That process made it possible for our community to choose a candidate who closely aligns with our values, who will fight to defend those values, and who truly values the grassroots. That’s what we see in Michael Roth.”

“Michael Roth has the experience and drive to make the change we need at the congressional level to bring benefits to the working people of New Jersey. His background working with small businesses and helping to improve local economies is much needed to counter Washington’s current lack of concern for those on whose backs the country runs.”

Vicki Fresolone, Indivisible Garden State Values

“Michael Roth isn’t afraid to face his potential constituents. He’s built his entire platform by listening to us. This is a stark contrast to Tom Kean, Jr. who consistently refuses to hold open, in-person town halls or answer basic questions from the press, leaving NJ-07 voters in the dark. The people of NJ-07 deserve true representation.”

Lori Moore, Long Valley Indivisible

“We were looking for a progressive fighter who has the knowledge and solutions to back his vision. Michael Roth, with his work in Washington, is the one candidate with an understanding of the existing systems that created this crisis and the levers that can make the economy — and the government — work for the people.”

Lisa Ferraro, Indivisible Rahway

“With several strong candidates in the race for Congressional District 7, we conducted multiple rounds of surveys before ultimately endorsing Michael Roth. This decision reflects his extensive experience and proven leadership—most notably his tenure as a leader of the U.S. Small Business Administration, where he worked with Congress to deliver $1 trillion in relief and helped save more than 1 million New Jersey jobs during the pandemic. In addition to his strong economic track record, we value his understanding of the housing, healthcare, and broader affordability crises, his commitment to opposing harmful cuts from the Trump administration, and his willingness to engage with and listen to grassroots organizations—the backbone of our democracy.”

Warren County Action Together Indivisible

“We’re deeply grateful to our sister Indivisible groups across the district for the time, care, and integrity they’ve brought to this primary season—starting with providing clear information about the candidates for voters trying to make informed decisions. Just as important, they’ve modeled what a transparent, democratic endorsement process can look like—thoughtful, inclusive, and grounded in shared values. In a moment when trust in our systems can feel fragile, their leadership should give all of us hope for the future.”

Maggie Savoca, OneNJ7

The five groups endorsing Michael Roth are part of a National network of over 2500 Indivisible organizations nationwide working in their local communities to elect new leaders, educate and motivate voters, and serve the public good.

6 Weeks To Go

Michael Roth has been building in momentum over the past four months, rising from underdog in the field to the clear challenger of the status quo. With his considerable fundraising and unparalleled experience to deliver real results on day one in Congress, Michael is the strongest grassroots candidate to win this Primary, take on Tom Kean Jr. this November, flip NJ-07, and bring a Democratic majority back to the House.
