Middlesex County initiates plans to revamp Tamarack golf course

East Course closed to begin major improvements

from infrastructure to design

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – Middlesex County is implementing new plans to enhance the popular Tamarack golf course with the closure of the East Course as part of the initial phase of a multi-faceted improvement project starting late November. The East Course will undergo much-needed renovations and upgrades in three focus areas: irrigation, drainage, and new design features that will dramatically transform the player experience and allow for enhanced maintenance of the course. Subsequently, once the East Course is completed in Spring 2022, the West Course is scheduled for similar upgrades.

“Our golf courses in Middlesex County have undergone a dramatic transformation since the County retained the services of a nationally recognized golf management firm in 2019 to oversee operations,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “It’s thrilling to see immediate improvements in the level of service and the quality of experience our courses offer players. Our investment in upgrading Tamarack is part of a larger strategic vision for the County to enhance the quality of life for our residents and attract new visitors to ultimately become a leading destination for recreation.”

The goals for Tamarack East Course renovations are as follows:

• Improve the ability to provide higher and more consistent maintenance standards through better control of irrigation and drainage and improved turf grasses while at the same time reducing the expense of managing these courses
• Enhance playability for all caliber of players
• Attract new users by adding more strategic interest and aesthetics through integration of design features that make each course more fun to play and more memorable
• Undertake improvements in a manner that is least disruptive to current users and provides the best value to Middlesex County residents
• Create more variation in the design style of each course so they stand apart

Tomaro. “These renovations will make a dramatic impact on the quality of experience and service at Tamarack golf course, enticing current members and welcoming more visitors to our great County.”

As of October 30, 2020, the professional entity managing the Middlesex County golf courses has officially changed their name to Indigo Golf Partners to better reflect today’s modern golf audience. The management, operations and personnel will be unaffected by this name change. Middlesex County golf courses will continue to provide the same excellent service and experience that residents and guests have become accustomed to.
