MIDDLESEX COUNTY YOUNG DEMOCRATS ELECT NEW EXECUTIVE BOARD
EDISON, N.J. —May 19, 2022 —The Middlesex County Young Democrats (MCYD) recently held their 2022 Elections and Reorganization Meeting where this year’s priorities lie in the organizational motto to “Recruit, Empower, and Engage”.
The committee elected the following Board Members:
- Gail Lalla (Edison), President
- Deborah Braga (Metuchen), Executive Vice President
- Stephan Lally (Woodbridge Township), Vice President of Fundraising
- Antonio Lombardi (Woodbridge Township), Vice President of Engagement
- Jack Barnes (Edison), Treasurer
- Verne Whitlock Jr. (Milltown), Secretary
“The Middlesex County Young Democrats have continued to be an exemplary partner with the Middlesex County Democratic Organization,” said Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin P. McCabe. “During this unprecedented year, the Young Dems’ Executive Board were able to uphold the mission of the Democratic party, and I look forward to their continued success.”
Following the election, appointments were made for the following Board Members:
- Kristina Sternesky (Woodbridge Township), Communications Director
- Petra Gaskins (New Brunswick), Black Caucus Chair
- Joseph Johnson (Edison), Policy Chair
- Saketa Chadalavada (Edison), Asian American Pacific Islander Chair
- Rachel Cohen (East Brunswick), Strategic Advisor
- Dan Harris (Woodbridge Township), MCYD Executive Board Member
“As the organization continues to grow, the expanded board appointments allows the Middlesex County Young Democrats to better serve our community and incorporate more diverse voices into the electoral process,” said Iris Delgado, Executive Director, MCDO. “I am excited about the new board’s mission and ability to recruit young leaders into the Democratic Party in Middlesex County as we work together to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in a crucial year.”
The MCYD continues to promote its core pillars of justice, equality, diversity, and the promotion of fellowship and cooperation with one another. The organization looks forward to building upon its previous success and continue to build on the excellent work of the prior boards while looking ahead to the future.
“2021 was a significant look ahead year where our executive board and chairs focused on helping to re-elect Governor Phil Murphy, as well as the democratic leaders down the ballot in local elections,” said President Gail Lalla. “It was incredible to assist in the expansion of voting options and to create several engaging events that built our base heading into the election season.
This year, the top of the Congressional ticket is a priority for the MCYD as election season nears. The organization is looking forward to pitching in where able and continue to educate the public on expanded voting options throughout the state.
