Monmouth County Democratic Women’s Caucus “2021 Candidates Night”

Monmouth County NJ, (October 5,2021), The Monmouth County Democratic Women’s Caucus (MCDWC) held their 9th Annual Women’s Candidate Fall Fundraiser Event on Tuesday September 28 at the Proving Ground Waterfront Dining, in Highlands NJ.

The Theme was Honoring Women in Government and “Leading with Excellence”. The mission of the MCDWC is to encourage and support women to run for leadership and elected positions within the State, County and Municipal government.

Dr. Veverly Wyche Chair and Aimee Humphreys Vice Chair said, “our goal is to educate, empower and provide economic support to help more women prepare to run for office and get elected”. The 2021 Candidates that participated in the event were, Assemblywoman JoAnn Downey who is running for re-election in Legislative District 11.

Others running for Assembly seats were Raya Arbiol, (LD-12), Erin Howard, (LD-13), and Allison Friedman, (LD-13). Also, participating was Candidate Leslie Posnock for the Monmouth County Surrogate Office. Candidates running for local committee and council seats, were Councilwoman Margaret Montone-Aberdeen- (Re-election), Lesley D’Almeida-Atlantic Highlands, Sonja Trombino-Fair Haven, Carrie Virgilio-Hazlet, Kate Triggiano-Red Bank, and Jacqueline Sturdivant-Red Bank.

The MCDWC honored three Mayors for their outstanding leadership: Mayor Theresa Berger, MD. of Howell Township, Mayor Collette Kennedy, Keyport Borough and former Mayor Rhonda LeGrice, Atlantic Highlands Borough. Proclamations were presented to all three Mayors by Senator Vin Gopal, Assemblywoman Joann Downey and Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling of Legislative District-11.

The well attended event provided an opportunity to raise funds and meet some of the Women Candidates running in the state and county election on November 2, 2021
