Monmouth GOP Files ELEC Complaint Against Curley

Monmouth GOP:   Corrupt Curley’s Violations Continue With Impunity

Colts Neck, NJ- The Monmouth County Republican Organization today filed complaints with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission ( NJ ELEC) documenting  numerous campaign finance violations committed by Freeholder John P. Curley.

“John Curley continues to deceive the public with his fire and brimstone rhetoric claiming to be a corruption fighter while he surreptitiously violates the laws he has sworn to uphold with impunity,” said Monmouth County Republican Chairman Shaun Golden. “Curley is violating the pay to play protections of the New Jersey’s campaign finance laws by seeking anonymous donations and failing to make the required disclosures from those buying his favor.”

The complaints, which were signed and filed by GOP Executive Director ToriAnn Parker, document Curley’s failure to disclose the addresses and employers of his donors.  Documentation of Curley’s solicitation of anonymous donations, an egregious violation of transparency is provided with the complaints. Even the language on Curley’s website encourages donors to hide their information- “Donation information will remain confidential… you can choose to hide your information.”

Curley has also failed to disclose potentially hundreds of thousands of payments to cover his legal fees paid to, due to, or contributed in-kind in connection with a frivolous lawsuit filed by Curley against the County that directly relates to his candidacy.  It is estimated that these legal fees top $300,000.

“Monmouth County voters deserve to know who is paying Curley’s legal bills in his suit against them and New Jersey Law requires that he disclose this information,” Golden said.  “Curley should immediately disclose the identities of the people or organizations funding his campaign.”
