Mosquera Statement on National Baby Formula Shortage
(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Gabriela Mosquera (D-Camden, Gloucester), Chair of the Assembly Women and Children Committee, issued the following statement in response to the nationwide baby formula shortage:
“Parents across the country, myself included, are feeling the impact of the baby formula shortage. Not being able to provide the nourishment your baby needs because of supply chain issues is incredibly stressful, and my heart goes out to the parents currently wondering how they’re going to feed their babies.
“This is a truly dire situation for many parents who rely on baby formula as the main source of nutrition for their young children. Meeting the needs of our children should always be the priority, but disruptions to the supply chain continue to make this a daunting task. Parents should not be faced with empty shelves when shopping for baby formula.
“I am encouraged to hear that President Biden, the US Food and Drug Administration, and manufacturers are working together around the clock to address the formula shortage. It is my hope that together they can come up with an immediate resolution to increase production to meet the needs of families in our nation and in our state.”
